BJPTMC clash leaves three injured

first_imgKolkata: Tension gripped Dhupguri area of Jalpaiguri on Sunday morning following a clash that broke out between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress activists.Two BJP supporters and a Trinamool Congress activist suffered serious injuries in the incident. They were rushed to a nearby hospital by the local residents. The district BJP leaders alleged that some Trinamool Congress backed-goons attacked the BJP activists when they took out an election rally on Saturday evening. It was learnt that two groups clashed with each other at Jharaalta gram panchayat II area triggering tension among local residents. Both the party leaders have lodged complaint with the Election Commission against each other. A contingent of police force rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The vice chairman of Dhupguri municipality Rajesh Singh said that it was a deliberate attempt by the BJP goons to create trouble in the area ahead of elections. Madhu Biswas, a TMC activist, was injured in the incident. Police have started a detailed probe into the incident. None has been arrested so far in this incident. A day before this incident, a chaos broke out at Rabindranagar area in South 24-Parganas after a banner with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s photograph on it was found torn. Many TMC activists from the district staged demonstration in the area. The banner was put up on a nearby bus at Rabindranagar. The party workers on Saturday morning found the banner was damaged. The irate TMC activisits put up a block on Santoshpur station road.last_img
